Asahi Kasei has entered into a licensing agreement with Germany's EAS Batteries for its innovative acetonitrile-based electrolyte technology. This partnership aims to advance the development and market introduction of a new ultra-high-power lithium-ion cell designed for demanding mobility and industrial uses.
The licensed electrolyte, first unveiled in June 2024, supports higher power output in low temperatures and offers enhanced durability at elevated temperatures. EAS Batteries will incorporate this electrolyte into their new cylindrical ultra-high-power lithium-ion cell featuring a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathode.
The new lithium-ion cell is planned to be launched no later than March 2026.
"The electrolyte enables higher power output at low temperatures and improved durability at high temperatures," Asahi Kasei stated.
Summary: The partnership between Asahi Kasei and EAS Batteries will bring to market a high-power lithium-ion cell with advanced electrolyte technology, promising superior performance and efficiency for demanding applications.
