Actor David Corenswet and his wife Julia Best Warner have become the focus of online discussion after a sequence of events involving social media activity and a misattributed campaign signature. Reports suggested that Warner briefly liked a greeting-card-style Instagram post referencing Zionism before removing her reaction once it drew attention.
At the same time, Corenswet’s name appeared falsely on a pledge by Film Workers for Palestine (FWFP). The organisation later confirmed that his inclusion resulted from impersonation and not his actual participation.
“The pledge calls on Hollywood professionals to avoid collaborating with Israeli film institutions deemed complicit in genocide and apartheid,” FWFP stated.
On 4 November 2025, FWFP clarified that Corenswet’s name had been removed after verification showed it was added fraudulently. Although the petition remains valid and continues to circulate among film industry professionals, Corenswet had no involvement in it.
The controversy deepened when some users connected Warner’s alleged social media activity to the broader debate surrounding the pledge. However, it remains unclear whether her interaction was deliberate, contextual, or simply misinterpreted.
The incident linked to Julia Best Warner’s social media activity and a false pledge signature briefly ignited online debate around David Corenswet’s name, which was later cleared of involvement.
