UNISON Response to Keep Britain Working Review

UNISON general secretary Christina McAnea commented on the publication of Sir Charlie Mayfield's Keep Britain Working review, stating that employers must prioritize staff wellbeing by monitoring workloads.

"It's in all our interests that workers keep well and are supported back to their jobs should they fall ill or get injured. Prevention is key to stopping staff being signed off in the first place. That means managers providing the right help early on."

McAnea emphasized the importance of supporting workers with disabilities, introducing robust standards for workplace adjustments, and raising statutory sick pay to prevent staff from working while ill.

Author's summary: Employers must protect staff wellbeing by monitoring workloads.
