Students, faculty, and staff gathered around the Día de los Muertos altar in Washington Hall to write heartfelt messages in honor of deceased loved ones.
Día de los Muertos, celebrated on November 1-2, is a special time of the year for many Latin American communities to honor the memory of loved ones by displaying food and personal items on an altar to celebrate the lives they lived while on earth.
Around 50 students, faculty, and staff gathered around the altar in the lobby of Washington Hall on October 28 for an intimate Día de los Muertos ceremony organized by the Modern Languages and Literatures department and Hispanic House, or La Casa Hispanica.
The event was a time to honor the memory of loved ones.
