Disney Ended Doctor Who Partnership for Three Key Reasons
Disney has terminated its partnership with Doctor Who, citing three primary factors: ratings, budget, and political concerns.

The most recent season, which premiered in April 2025, did not appear on Nielsen and Luminate's streaming charts. The seasons featuring Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor did not match the ratings of the previous season with Jodie Whittaker in 2021.
There is more to that role than performing.
A source close to the matter noted that Ncuti Gatwa, who left the show after two seasons, never "fully embraced" playing the Doctor.
