Home Affairs Minister Leon Schreiber has introduced a new delivery option for South African citizens living abroad, allowing them to receive their passports via courier doorstep delivery.
This service, set to launch on November 1, 2025, aims to reduce travel and offer convenience, with a 24 to 72-hour turnaround time and fees ranging from US$30 to US$60.
The department launched a dedicated service centre to cut passport application waiting times from up to 18 months to just weeks.
According to the new service, international South Africans may be able to receive their passports faster than those in the country.
