World Treadmill Championships to Debut in 2026
The first-ever World Treadmill Championships, dubbed RUN X, will take place over 5km in 2026, allowing ordinary athletes to compete against elite runners.
- Qualifying events will be held at thousands of locations in the first part of 2026.
- A grand final will be held at a yet-to-be-announced venue later in the year.
Seb Coe, World Athletics president, emphasizes the importance of combining technology and physicality.
The competition is a result of a partnership between Technogym and World Athletics, utilizing the "Technogym ecosystem" with over 50,000 clubs in more than 120 countries.
A launch event was held in Milan, featuring World Athletics president Seb Coe and world 10,000m champion Jimmy Gressier.
