Canada All the Way
Chatham This Week columnist Karen Robinet shares her experience of traveling from Chatham to Winnipeg without crossing into the U.S.
The trip began with a challenge after driving to Southampton, where they learned that the ferry from Tobermory to Manitou Island might be cancelled the next day.
Well, boys and girls I had apparently forgotten how long (very long!) it takes to drive from Chatham to Winnipeg the Canadian way, but given the current circumstances it seemed like the right choice.
Due to the uncertainty of the ferry schedule, they decided to drive to Sault Ste. Marie, which proved to be a good decision when the first two ferries of the day were cancelled due to bad weather.
