A case of bird flu has been detected in a commercial egg layer in LaGrange County, according to the Indiana State Board of Animal Health.
The affected flock of nearly 20,000 has been depopulated, and a 10km control area and 20km surveillance zone have been established in parts of Elkhart, LaGrange, and Noble Counties.
This is the fifth case in the region since October, with previous cases detected in LaGrange and Elkhart counties.
The agency confirmed the case on October 21 and will lift the quarantine once testing shows the virus is no longer present.
