Immersed in the Music of Hawaii on Maui

"Mele: The Hawaiian Music Experience" at Maui Ocean Center's Sphere Theater combines music, dance and visuals to showcase Hawaii's beauty and heritage.

Since opening on July 1, the immersive show has been presenting audiences with a combination of music, dance and visual storytelling. Created by Hawaii entertainer Eric Gilliom, the production aims to showcase the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Hawaii through a 75-minute performance with 360-degree visual elements inside the spherical-shaped theater.

"You get to travel around Maui without leaving your seat," said Mike Morris, communications specialist for Maui Ocean Center. "It's a concert but then also you're immersed in these really cool visuals and Hawaiian culture. It's a lot of fun."

The show's imagery depicts the island's landscapes and seascapes, including Haleakala volcano and underwater marine life.

Author's summary: Experience Hawaiian music and culture in a 75-minute show.
