Father and Son Lose Appeal Over Covid Fine

Nicolae and Florin Mazarache, of Clondalkin, Dublin, were travelling to Spain when they received €2,000 fixed penalty notices for allegedly breaching Covid regulations at Dublin Airport in 2021.

The pair were stopped by a garda on April 17, 2021, and later issued with notices alleging they had "committed an offence of movement of persons" under the 1947 Health Act.

The father and son chose not to pay the fine and instead brought judicial review proceedings, but their appeal was unsuccessful.

No comment from the defendants is available at this time.
