Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith have officially canceled their upcoming divorce trial, just one day before they were set to appear in court.
The couple was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, Oct. 15, to discuss custody arrangements for their 5-year-old daughter, Juno. However, according to court filings obtained by PEOPLE, Turner-Smith's attorney submitted paperwork on Tuesday, Oct. 14, requesting that the trial be removed from the court's calendar.
[Turner-Smith and Jackson] are in the process of negotiating a custody judgment. The parties will return to the privately compensated temporary judge to resolve any impasses in the proposed custody judgment.
The filing indicates that Turner-Smith, 39, and Jackson, 47, are now working together privately to reach an agreement regarding custody.
