John Bolton, former national security advisor to Donald Trump, pleaded not guilty to charges of mishandling classified information on Friday.
Bolton, a 76-year-old veteran diplomat and outspoken critic of the US president, entered a not guilty plea to 18 counts of transmitting and retaining top secret national defense information.
The court hearing took place in Greenbelt, Maryland, where Magistrate Judge Timothy Sullivan released Bolton on his own recognizance and set the next hearing date for November 21.
