AABHN Cross-Country Champions Crowned

Leah DuChene, a student at North Park Collegiate, won the bantam girls four-kilometre race at the Athletic Association of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk cross-country championship with a time of 16 minutes, eight seconds.

DuChene is the daughter of Krista, who represented Canada in the marathon at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. Leah has already shown promising talent, beating her mom in workouts.

At the start of the summer, every workout I stayed with her but at the end, (I’d beat her),

Leah said. Her mom, Krista, was a varsity hockey player for the University of Guelph before taking up the marathon. Leah currently plays U15 AA for the Ancaster Avalanche and hopes to play hockey at university.
