Brant County is anticipating significant budget pressures in the lead-up to 2026 property tax discussions.
A long-term property tax forecast reveals some of the budget pressures the county will face, including anticipated capital projects, operating expenses, and revenue over the next 10 years.
The 2026 forecast shows a potential tax hike of 13.6 per cent, the highest across the decade.
It’s “a raw set of data based on the expenditures and revenues in a particular year,”
According to Byron Tan, a consultant from Watson & Associates, the county can use reserve funds, delay non-priority projects, or take on debt to spread payments and reduce the tax burden on residents.
