Employment Rate in Scotland
The number of Scots in work fell by 18,000 during the last quarter, with 2,657,000 people aged 16 and over in work from June to August.
According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), Scotland’s employment rate for June to August stood at 74.3%, lower than the UK rate of 75.1%.
- The number of people in work was 38,000 higher than in June to August 2024.
- The number of Scots who were unemployed increased by 5,000 compared to the previous three months, totaling 107,000 people.
- The unemployment total was still 3,000 lower than in June to August 2024, with a calculated unemployment rate of 3.9% for June to August.
