European Parliament President Hails Release of Israeli Hostages
European Parliament President Roberta Metsola welcomed the release of 20 remaining Israeli hostages, calling it a "historic day of hope in Israel and the entire Middle East".
"After two years of pain and heartbreak, all those remaining hostages are free and back into the arms of their loved ones. The guns have fallen silent,"
Metsola expressed her thoughts with the families of the hostages, who suffered "unimaginable pain" over the last two years.
"Peace is possible. The intergenerational cycle of terror, war and horror can be broken."
Metsola thanked US President Donald Trump, as well as the governments of Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye, for their role in brokering the peace deal, and stated that the European Parliament is ready to help ensure its implementation.
