Main Route Remains Closed After Road Collapses

A main road is set to remain shut while emergency infrastructure works to a culvert take place.

The A249 Brielle Way in Queenborough has been closed since around 4pm on Wednesday, between the A250 and B2007, due to a collapsed culvert, a tunnel carrying a stream under the road.

National Highways engineers are at the scene, and yesterday warned drivers that the A249 would remain closed overnight in both directions.

The repairs are ongoing throughout the morning. Thank you for your patience.

Taxi company iCars Swale Ltd also warned customers of the problems, stating:

Just after the bridge from Whiteway roundabout, there is a culvert under the road. It has collapsed, as has the road, so it's unsafe.

Author's summary: Road closed due to culvert collapse.
