One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has indicated that the populist momentum transforming the UK might soon influence Australian politics. This follows her meeting with Nigel Farage, founder of Reform UK.
Ms. Hanson met with Mr. Farage at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Florida. Reflecting on their meeting, she said:
“It was great to catch up with my friend Nigel Farage, a true champion for Britain, at CPAC.”
Ms. Hanson praised Reform UK for reshaping the UK's political scene, highlighting their straightforward approach and national focus:
“Reform UK is reshaping the political landscape by standing firm, speaking plainly, and putting their country first.”
She sees a similar movement growing in Australia:
“That same movement is building here in Australia. Like Reform, One Nation is surging because we say what the major parties won’t.”
Hanson emphasized that One Nation speaks for those disillusioned by traditional politics:
“We speak for the millions who are sick of being ignored, sold out, and betrayed by a political class that’s completely lost touch.”
Reform UK currently holds about a 10-point lead over the Labour Party, driven by anti-immigration stances and promises of tax cuts. Similarly, One Nation has seen a surge in popularity, reaching a record 15 percent primary vote in recent polls.
Ms. Hanson concluded with a warning to the political establishment:
“Reform is proving something the establishment fears, the old two-party stitch-up can be defeated. And when it crumbles, it crumbles fast.”
Author’s summary: Pauline Hanson signals a rising populist movement in Australia inspired by Reform UK's success, reflecting deep voter dissatisfaction with traditional politics.
