The BBC is under significant criticism for altering footage of Donald Trump's speech in a Panorama documentary.
David Elstein, a former BBC Executive Producer, described the broadcaster's actions as a "very worrying" sign of a deeper cultural problem within the organization. Speaking to GB News, he emphasized that the BBC's decision to edit the speech “needs more scrutiny.”
The controversy centers on a segment where the US President is shown saying:
“We're gonna walk down to the Capitol and I'll be there with you and we fight. We fight like hell and if you don't fight like hell you're not gonna have a country any more.”
However, the original speech had Mr Trump telling the crowd they would be marching to the Capitol to “peacefully and patriotically make their voices heard.”
The BBC’s manipulated portrayal of Trump’s speech reveals deeper cultural problems and calls for urgent scrutiny into editorial practices.
