Arc Raiders Sells 1.6 Million Copies in Three Days Despite Server Issues

Embark Studios' new multiplayer extraction shooter, Arc Raiders, achieved a strong launch, selling approximately 1.6 million copies within its first three days. This milestone came just one day after the game reached a peak concurrent player count of 354,836.

Sales and Revenue

According to the Steam analytics website Gamalytic, Arc Raiders generated around US$61.1 million in revenue from these sales. The total copies sold are expected to be higher when factoring in console sales, which are not included in these estimates.

Server Problems During Launch

The launch weekend faced technical difficulties as the player count surpassed 300,000 concurrent users. Matchmaking and login issues became apparent, and at one point, the servers were offline for several hours before Embark Studios could deploy fixes.

Developer's Response and Player Compensation

To apologize for the disruptions and thank the community, Embark Studios announced a reward for players who logged in over the weekend. All players received 500 Raider Tokens free of charge.

The developers posted on X, acknowledging the server issues on Sunday:

“The servers on Sunday had a wobble. Scrappy must’ve pecked a few wires loose.”

They added, “As a token of our thanks, we’re sending 500 Raider Tokens to all Raiders who logged in on Sunday (2 November).”

Summary

Despite initial server struggles, Arc Raiders' impressive early sales and the developer's proactive compensation highlight a promising start for the game.
