Timothee Chalamet disappointed not to win Oscar

Timothée Chalamet disappointed over Oscar loss

Timothée Chalamet openly shared his disappointment after not winning the Best Actor Oscar this year. The 29-year-old actor was nominated for portraying Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown but lost to Adrien Brody for his role in The Brutalist.

It was Chalamet’s second time being nominated for the award. His first nomination came in 2017 for Call Me By Your Name, when Gary Oldman won for Darkest Hour. Speaking to Vogue, Chalamet reflected on the emotional side of such losses.

“If there’s five people at an awards show, and four go home losing, you don’t think those four are at dinner like, ‘Damn, we didn’t win’?”

“I’ve been around some generous, humble actors, and maybe some say, ‘That was fun.’ But I know for a fact a lot of them are going, ‘F***.’ People can call me a try-hard or say whatever, but I’m the one actually doing it.”

Despite missing out on the Academy Award, Chalamet earned the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award for Best Leading Actor for the same role. During his acceptance speech, he expressed his deep commitment to the craft and his aspiration for artistic excellence.

“I know the classiest thing would be to downplay the effort that went into this role, but the truth is, this was five and a half years of my life. I poured everything I had into playing this incomparable artist.”
