Nine Organised Criminals Involved in Ganemulla Sanjeewa Murder Plot, CID Reports
The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) informed Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama that nine prominent organised criminals were allegedly behind the conspiracy to murder Ganemulla Sanjeewa.
Investigation Progress and Suspect Statements
The investigating officer representing the CCD submitted a progress report and made oral submissions to the court. Statements were recorded from several suspects who are currently in remand or detained in relation to the case.
“According to these statements, investigations have revealed that six organised criminals were directly involved in the killing of Ganemulla Sanjeewa within the court complex premises.”
These six suspects are listed as the 28th to 36th suspects in the ongoing case.
Status of the Nine Identified Organised Criminals
- Four of the nine suspects are currently detained and undergoing interrogation under detention orders.
- Another four suspects have fled overseas and investigations to apprehend them are ongoing.
- One suspect is in remand custody regarding a separate case handled by the Peliyagoda Crimes Division.
The officer requested the court to order the production of this last suspect at the next hearing.
