Fish Wang, a Taiwanese animation director and winner of the Best Animated Short at the 2023 Sitges Film Festival for Ghost of the Dark Path, is back at the Taiwan Creative Content Fest (TCCF) 2025. His latest project, Wondering Tales Of Blossmoss, builds upon the universe introduced in his 2022 VR animated short Red Tail.
The feature-length animation, a joint production between Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, and France, explores themes of memory, loss, and coming of age. It weaves fantasy and imagination with intimate personal reflection, posing the universal question:
“Does life’s trauma lead to growth or become a burden?”
Wang works closely with Hong Kong screenwriter Toe Yuen and co-producer Polly Yeung, who facilitated partnerships across Japan and France. Aimed at viewers aged 12 and older, the film mixes humor and visual appeal with philosophical depth to create a whimsical yet thoughtful animated world.
Sanvy Hsieh, a longtime collaborator, remarked, “Fish isn’t just the director — he’s shaping the aesthetic identity of the entire work and providing the core narrative framework for the writing team.”
Author’s summary: Taiwanese director Fish Wang expands his evocative animated storytelling with Wondering Tales Of Blossmoss, a thoughtful, international feature exploring trauma, growth, and imagination.
