Cambrian News is recognized for standing up for the people of mid and west Wales. The news media industry has also acknowledged its impact.
The News Media Association has shortlisted Cambrian News for the annual Making A Difference Awards due to its extensive coverage of poor health services in mid and west Wales.
“It’s the second year running Cambrian News has been nominated for the award and we’re up against daily regional newspapers such as the Nottingham Post, the Bolton News and the Inverness Courier,” Editor Mick O’Reilly said.
O’Reilly noted that although daily newspapers have a larger audience, Cambrian News is known for its persistent and impactful reporting on issues vital to the region.
The investigative series on underfunded healthcare led First Minister Eluned Morgan to respond, insisting the region received its fair share of resources. This triggered a political dispute, with MS Elin Jones accusing the First Minister of being disconnected from local realities just ahead of the May Senedd elections.
“The award is chosen by popular vote so it’s important that as many of you as possible scan the QR code and click on the Cambrian News entry,” Mr O’Reilly said.
Your vote can help highlight the vital work Cambrian News is doing for mid and west Wales.
Summary: Cambrian News is recognized for its persistent coverage of healthcare issues in mid and west Wales and is competing in a popular-vote award that acknowledges its significant regional impact.
