The first season of Landman ended with a dramatic shift that left Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) facing serious trouble. As the series returns this month, Tommy’s life takes a new and complicated turn.
In the Season 1 finale, titled "The Crumbs of Hope," M-Tex Oil owner Monty Miller (Jon Hamm) suffered a fatal heart attack. Before his death, Monty's wife, Cami (Demi Moore), tasked Tommy with securing a deal to save the struggling company. However, things went awry when cartel members abducted him, only for senior cartel figure Galino (Andy Garcia) to intervene and rescue him.
Season 2 picks up in the aftermath of these events. The new trailer confirms that Tommy has become vice president of M-Tex Oil, now fully under Cami’s command.
“I want success. Get it for me.”
This directive leaves Tommy attempting to balance the company’s future, his loyalty to Cami, and his deteriorating personal life. The stakes have never been higher, and his challenges extend beyond the boardroom.
Galino emerges as a far greater menace this season. According to Billy Bob Thornton, Galino’s intelligence and strategic power make him a far more dangerous adversary than anyone Tommy faced before.
“Tommy isn’t dealing with henchmen anymore. He knew how to deal with them.”
Thornton and series co-creator Christian Wallace have teased that Season 2 will explore how Tommy navigates these escalating dangers while staying true to the series’ theme that, sooner or later, something has to break.
Author’s summary: Season 2 of Landman pushes Tommy Norris into deeper peril as new power struggles and cartel threats test his limits and redefine his ambitions.
