After experiencing the dullest October in sixty years and a damp start to November, the UK is preparing for a significant temperature drop in the coming weeks. Recent forecasts suggest that large parts of the West Country, including Devon, Cornwall, and Dorset, could see temperatures falling to around 5°C and a fresh blanket of snow.
According to updated weather maps from WXCharts on November 6, snowfall of several centimetres is predicted for Thursday, November 19. Parts of South West England and South Wales are likely to experience heavy snowfalls up to 3 cm per hour, especially near Exmoor National Park in North Devon, as reported by the Express. Lighter snow of around 1 cm per hour is expected in areas such as Exeter, Yeovil, and Sherborne.
"Large parts of the West Country are expected to see temperatures drop to a maximum of 5C and may even see several centimetres of snow," reports WXCharts.
While the south-west braces for snow, southern England and regions including Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, and Warwickshire are set to face heavy rainfall. WXCharts visuals show much of the southern coastline of England and Wales covered in shades of blue, green, and purple — symbols of intense precipitation.
Colder air sweeping across the UK could bring the first significant snow of the season, leaving the South West and parts of Wales covered in an early winter layer by mid-November.
