Cloud gaming continues to evolve despite the fading memory of Google's Stadia, with Sony deepening its commitment through the PlayStation Portal handheld device. Unlike other handhelds like the Steam Deck, the PlayStation Portal does not operate independently; it relies entirely on streaming from a PlayStation 5 console.
Starting today, all PlayStation Portal users can access cloud gaming without connecting to a PlayStation 5 via Remote Play. This update enables playing select digital PS5 games from the user's own library directly through the cloud. Additionally, a selection of PlayStation games will be available for streaming via PlayStation Plus.
