Scotiabank Pledges J$165 Million for Hurricane Melissa Relief

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Following the severe damage from Hurricane Melissa, Scotiabank announced a donation of CAD$400,000 (approximately J$48 million) to aid relief and rebuilding efforts in Jamaica.

The Scotiabank Foundation is also committing an additional J$100 million to support the island's recovery and strengthen economic resilience. These funds will be channeled through trusted organizations actively assisting affected families and communities.

Moreover, Scotia Group staff are organizing care package donations valued at nearly J$12 million for impacted communities. The bank will match staff contributions up to CAD$50,000 (J$6 million).

“The devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa has been immense, with many of our clients, employees, and communities facing significant losses,” said Audrey Tugwell Henry, President and CEO of Scotia Group Jamaica.
