Riley Keough's mother, Lisa Marie Presley, passed away on January 12, 2023. Since then, Riley co-finished her memoir and has experienced moments she interprets as signs of her mother's approval.
Riley will soon mark the third anniversary of Lisa Marie's passing. Although her mother is no longer physically present, Riley feels an unexplainable connection, especially after co-writing her memoir, From Here to the Great Unknown.
At the Academy x Chanel Women’s Luncheon on November 4, 2025, Riley shared with PEOPLE that she believes she has received approval from her mother through subtle signs. She explained,
“I think if you're open to those things, they're kind of everywhere.”
Riley finished the memoir in 2023 after Lisa Marie’s death. She added,
“So, I certainly feel connected to whatever that world may be. I do feel connected to it, yeah. There are certainly moments that are very... too weird to not be something.”
The 36-year-old actress did not reveal the specific experiences but mentioned they will be detailed in the afterword of the paperback edition, set for release on November 11, 2025.
This is not the first time Riley has encountered such spiritual moments, and she believes this sensitivity is something she inherited from her mother. Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, was nine years old when Elvis passed away and seemed to have sensed his impending death.
Leading up to his passing, she seemed to sense what was coming.
Riley's experiences suggest a continuing spiritual bond between mother and daughter beyond physical presence.
Author's summary: Riley Keough feels a profound spiritual connection with her late mother Lisa Marie Presley, interpreting signs of approval linked to her recently completed memoir.
