Parades and Services for Remembrance Day in Hamilton, Burlington and Brantford

Several local cities are preparing ceremonies to mark Remembrance Day and honor the sacrifices of those who have served in the armed forces. Events will take place across Hamilton, Burlington, and Brantford.

On November 11, most federal government offices will be closed, along with federally regulated services such as banks and the postal system.

Indigenous Veterans’ Day in Hamilton

An event commemorating Indigenous Veterans’ Day will occur at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 7, at the Battlefield House Museum and Park, located at 77 King Street East.

“This service acknowledges and commemorates the contributions made by Indigenous veterans in service to Turtle Island,” the City of Hamilton said in a news release.

The ceremony at the Eagles Among Us Indigenous Monument will be followed by light refreshments and snacks featuring Indigenous flavors. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs due to limited seating.

Garrison Parade and Service

Hamilton will also host its garrison parade starting at 10:15 a.m. on November 9, followed by a memorial service at 10:45 a.m. The parade will feature local veterans, garrison units, and cadet corps, beginning at the John Foote V.C. Armory on James Street North and proceeding south to Gore Park on King Street East. The service will be held at Gore Park’s Veteran’s Place.
