Cadets Hold Vigil Before Remembrance Day Service in Brantford
Citizens are invited to honor those who have served and continue to serve Canada during both war and peace. Brantford will join communities nationwide in paying tribute on Remembrance Day.
“We encourage members of our community to join us on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, as we remember, with deep respect and immense gratitude, the remarkable sacrifices of others,” said Sharon Sayles, communications advisor for the City of Brantford.
Vigil and Memorial Illumination
Cadets will hold a vigil starting Monday at 6 p.m. until midnight and will resume at 7 a.m. the next day. The Brant War Memorial will remain illuminated throughout the night.
Remembrance Day March and Service
- A walking march on Tuesday will include veterans, active service personnel, first responders, dignitaries, and cadets.
- The march will depart from Harmony Square and proceed along Dalhousie Street to the Brant War Memorial.
- The Civic Service of Remembrance begins at 10:50 a.m., featuring a fly-past by a B-25 Mitchell bomber and an FF46 Firefly aircraft from the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, weather permitting.
- A John’s College student, winner of a local speech-writing contest, will deliver a speech titled The Role of Canadian Soldiers in War One.
- The ceremony will honor one First World War veteran and 22 Second World War veterans, whose names were recently added to the Brant War Memorial after being identified as missing earlier this year.
