Sarah Snook is back on TV in the Peacock kidnapping thriller All Her Fault, marking a moderate entry in the rich mom mystery genre. The show introduces Marissa Irvine, a wealthy wealth manager based in Chicago, portrayed by Snook herself.
Marissa shares a superficial resemblance to Siobhan Roy, Snook’s character from Succession. Both characters are affluent and favor a quietly luxurious style with neutral tones and cocoon-like outerwear. However, Marissa is distinct in that she is defined by her role as a mother, a life phase Shiv only began exploring in Succession.
The series, developed by Megan Gallagher and adapted from Andrea Mara’s 2021 novel, begins with Marissa discovering her 5-year-old son Milo (played by Duke McCloud) missing from a playdate. What unfolds is a tense kidnapping drama that taps into every parent's worst fear.
“All Her Fault” does allow Snook to emote with all her might, sobbing with panic and gasping in horror as Marissa’s quest to find Milo takes its inevitable twists and turns.
“All Her Fault” serves as a tailor-made vehicle for Sarah Snook, showcasing her dramatic range in a middling mystery centered on motherhood and kidnapping.
