Channel 10 is bringing back the feel of the early 2000s with the new season of Big Brother. The show’s new host, Mel Tracina, revealed key details about the season and addressed fans' burning question about an adults-only edition.
The Big Brother house has moved back to Dreamworld, its original filming location for the first 11 seasons from 2001 to 2014. Tracina said,
“The Big Brother house is synonymous with Dreamworld, so bringing the OG format to its OG location feels right.”
The season will feature live nominations and live evictions, returning to a more traditional, back-to-basics format.
Despite fans’ hopes, there will be no comeback for the adults-only "Big Brother Uncut" or "Big Brother Up Late" segments that aired during the first six seasons. Tracina confirmed,
“This year there’s no return of Big Brother Up Late (or Uncut). We’re keeping it PG.”
Viewers will have access to a 24/7 live stream of all the house action, but the content will be carefully moderated. Tracina added,
“Again, that will be moderated to make sure that everything we broadcast is up to broadcast standards.”
This decision is likely to disappoint many fans, especially Gen X and Millennials, who fondly remember sneaking peeks at the adults-only content for its more risqué moments.
Summary: The new Big Brother season returns to its original location with a classic format, excluding the adults-only "Uncut" version, while offering moderated 24/7 live streaming to maintain PG standards.
