Eric Barone, creator of Stardew Valley, said the upcoming game Haunted Chocolatier is moving slowly because he insists on perfecting every element. He mentioned that recipe book interface as one detail he is still refining. He tests each animation for consistency. He also applies the same scrutiny to sound design.
Barone said to Game Informer he would rather serve a fully baked bread than release an unfinished product. PC Gamer quoted him saying he tortures himself over every last detail. The update appeared on 26 June 2026 in several outlets, including Polygon.com and VICE.
