Macklin Celebrini recorded a goal and two assists as the San Jose Sharks dominated the Seattle Kraken 6-1 on Wednesday night at Climate Pledge Arena.
Yaroslav Askarov turned aside 28 shots, helping San Jose secure its fourth win in the last six games. The Sharks, now 5-6-3, have gone 4-1-1 in that stretch.
“Our penalty kill was really good tonight. So that helps,” head coach Ryan Warsofsky said. “I thought our game got better as the game went on.”
Will Smith, Tyler Toffoli, and John Klingberg each added a goal and an assist, while Ethan Cardwell and Ty Dellandrea also found the back of the net.
Ryan Winterton scored his first NHL goal for Seattle, which ended its five-game homestand with a 2-1-2 record. Joey Daccord stopped 15 shots before being replaced by Matt Murray in the third period. Murray made three saves in relief.
“Disconnected in a bunch of different areas,” Kraken coach Lane Lambert said. “Our structure wasn’t good enough tonight.”
Celebrini opened the scoring just 1:08 into the first period after receiving a sharp pass from Toffoli and beating Daccord with a wrist shot from the slot.
“I was just in the slot and there to put it in,” Celebrini said. “[Smith and Toffoli] did a great job getting on their D and forcing a turnover.”
Winterton later tied it at 1-1 at 16:30 before the Sharks pulled away with a dominant second and third period performance.
Celebrini led a potent San Jose offense with three points, while Askarov’s 28 saves and a strong penalty kill powered the Sharks to a decisive 6-1 win over Seattle.
