Communities throughout the Inverness area will come together this weekend to honor those who lost their lives in conflict during Remembrance events. Hundreds are expected to attend the city’s annual Remembrance Sunday parade and service at the Cavell Gardens war memorial.
In addition to the main city event, people will gather at war memorials in various towns and villages for solemn ceremonies, paying respect to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
The Inverness parade will feature members of the Royal British Legion Scotland (RBLS), veterans, cadet groups, young people, politicians, and civic leaders. It will assemble at Huntly Street at 2:20 pm.
This year, motorcyclists from the Highland Riders’ Branch of the RBLS will also join the procession. The parade route crosses the River Ness, leading to the war memorial.
The service at the war memorial will start at 3:00 pm, including a two-minute silence, wreath-laying ceremonies, and readings from pupils of Charleston Academy.
