ViaSat’s second satellite in its planned fleet expansion, ViaSat-3 F2, has had its launch postponed by one day. The spacecraft was initially scheduled to launch late on November 5th from Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral aboard United Launch Alliance's Atlas V rocket.
ULA Launch Director James Whelan announced the decision to halt countdown operations due to a problem detected while cycling the booster’s liquid oxygen tank vent valve during final system checks.
"We will not continue with countdown operations."
The launch is now set for November 6th at 10:16 PM EST, opening a 44-minute launch window. The rocket is expected to take about three and a half hours to reach its geostationary transfer orbit. Following this, the satellite will undergo testing before moving to its final orbital position.
ViaSat continues to develop its global broadband satellite network with this critical fleet expansion.
