Glenn Close admitted that anxiety nearly overtook her before auditioning for one of her most famous roles in the 1987 film Fatal Attraction. At the time, the actress was nervous enough to take a Valium to calm down before meeting the casting team.
“I was so nervous I took a Valium.”
The 78-year-old performer, celebrated for roles in 101 Dalmatians, Hillbilly Elegy, and Dangerous Liaisons, reflected on the experience during an episode of The Kardashians. Close sat with her All Stars co-stars to rewatch her career-defining film and share behind-the-scenes stories.
“I wanna tell you a couple of the little tidbits about it. Like how I got cast and all that kind of thing,”
She recalled that she was performing on Broadway when she had to ask her understudy to fill in so she could fly to Los Angeles for the audition. Her hair, she said, was wild and untamed.
“I said, ‘What am I going to do with my hair?’ And I finally said, ‘Oh f**k it, I’m just gonna go like that.’”
Close added that taking Valium was out of character for her, emphasizing how significant the audition felt at the time.
“I don’t take Valiums, so the fact that I took a Valium meant it was serious.”
