An urgent recall has been announced for three tomato pasta sauces over fears they may contain Clostridium botulinum, a dangerous bacterium that can cause fatal food poisoning.
First and Last Bakery, LLC, has recalled three popular sauces after discovering the potential presence of the bacterium. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) noted the products were made without an approved schedule, meaning the production process was not properly checked to prevent bacterial growth.
These sauces were sold between Connecticut and Massachusetts through Big Y and possibly other retailers, with a use-by date of September 26, 2025.
Shoppers have been warned that consuming these sauces could be life-threatening. "Anyone who purchased the affected sauces is being urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund."
So far, no illnesses have been reported, but the risk of botulism—a serious and potentially fatal foodborne illness—remains.
The recall information was reported by the Independent and Daily Record.
Summary: First and Last Bakery, LLC urgently recalls three tomato-based pasta sauces due to potential contamination with Clostridium botulinum, advising customers to return products immediately for safety.
