Marsy’s Law for Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association, and the Wisconsin Newspaper Association are partnering to present a webinar focused on best practices for ethical media coverage involving crime victims.

Webinar Speakers and Panel Moderator

The panel will be moderated by Nela Kalpic, State Director for Marsy’s Law Wisconsin.

Focus and Topics of the Webinar

The webinar will highlight recommendations from the National Center for Victims of Crime (NCVC) guide for reporters. This includes best methods for interacting with victims that protect survivors from unwanted attention while allowing their stories to be shared in a way that benefits both the reporter and the victim.

Additionally, the session will connect these principles with Wisconsin’s Marsy’s Law constitutional amendment, which guarantees victims' rights such as privacy, notice, and participation in the justice process.

“The webinar will focus on the recommendations from the National Center for Victims of Crime guide that include best practices for protecting survivors and leveraging their stories positively.”

Marsy’s Law in Wisconsin ensures crime victims have constitutional rights aimed at safeguarding their privacy and ensuring their involvement in legal processes.
