Orioles sign outfielder Leody Taveras

The Baltimore Orioles have strengthened their outfield depth for the 2026 season by agreeing to a deal with Leody Taveras, according to multiple reports.

Taveras spent the first five years of his career with the Texas Rangers before dividing the 2025 season between the Rangers and the Seattle Mariners organizations. It turned out to be one of his most difficult years, as he hit just .205 with 3 home runs and 17 RBIs over 58 games before being reassigned to Triple-A Tacoma in mid-June.

While in Tacoma, his performance improved significantly, batting .280 with 11 home runs and 68 RBIs. This winter, Taveras is playing for Águilas Cibaeñas in the Dominican Winter League, where he’s hitting .300 across nine games.

“He will join a crowded outfield picture in Baltimore that features Colton Cowser, Jeremiah Jackson, Tyler O'Neill, Dylan Beavers, and Heston Kjerstad.”
