Cameron Norrie Reaches Metz Semifinals

Cameron Norrie battled past home favorite Kyrian Jacquet to secure a semifinal spot at the Moselle Open. As the last remaining seed in the ATP 250 event, Norrie closed out the two-hour, 25-minute contest by winning the final 11 points.

“He surprised me a lot,” said Norrie about Jacquet, the third French opponent he has defeated this week. “He was mixing it up really well — slicing a lot, then going aggressive. His serve is really, really good. The French have so many great players, all with different styles. I liked the way he competed; he could have easily won the match in the second set, but I managed to stay tough.”

Jacquet struck 48 winners, half from his forehand wing, compared to Norrie’s 28. Yet the British player elevated his game at crucial moments to book his place in the final four.

Path Ahead in Metz

Lorenzo Sonego, who won the Metz title in 2022, remains in contention. Norrie is chasing his sixth tour-level trophy and his first since winning in Rio de Janeiro in 2023, where he defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the final.

Other Quarterfinal Results

In other action, #NextGenATP player Learner Tien completed a comeback win over Matteo Berrettini 5–7, 6–2, 6–3 in one hour and 44 minutes. Facing Berrettini for the first time in a Lexus ATP Head2Head encounter, the 19-year-old American converted all three break points he earned, as per Infosys ATP Stats, to reach his second tour-level semifinal.
