High Wind Warning Issued for Our Area
A Wind Advisory has been issued for our area by NOAA, effective tonight and into Wednesday, with gusty southerly winds of 35-55 mph and isolated gusts of 65 mph.
Residents are advised to be prepared for potential power outages, with tree limbs possibly being blown down. It is recommended to have flashlights and extra batteries on hand.
About Advisories and Warnings
A High Wind Warning is issued when winds are expected to be 40 mph or more, and wind gusts are expected to be 58 mph or more. These warnings help prepare for potential property damage, disruptions to outdoor activities, and transportation issues.
Fast winds can make things much more dangerous in places where there’s a bigger chance of wildfires.
In such cases, the National Weather Service issues a Red Flag Warning when it’s very windy and dry.
