Stena Line has acquired Wasaline, assuming control of the ferry route between Umeå, Sweden, and Vaasa, Finland.

The agreement is subject to approval by the municipal councils of Umeå and Vaasa.

The ferry route is owned by Kvarken Link, a company jointly owned by the two cities, which operates the Finnish shipping company NLC Ferry under the trade name Wasaline.

The vessel Aurora Botnia will continue to serve the route.

The Umeå–Vaasa route has become the first international green shipping corridor.
