Millions of people take melatonin as a nightly sleep aid, but new research suggests it may have a surprising link to heart failure.
A study of over 130,000 adults with insomnia found that long-term melatonin use was associated with a nearly doubled risk of developing heart failure, more than triple the risk of hospitalization for heart failure, and nearly twice the risk of death over five years.
