As the federal government's shutdown continues, Southern Oregon University students face uncertainty around the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

Many students already struggle with food and financial insecurity, which was amplified starting in November.

Funding for SNAP benefits lapsed due to the failure of President Donald Trump's administration and Congress to re-authorize food payments.

Knowing that students will feel impacts from the shutdown, Southern Oregon University President Rick Bailey issued a Friday Message on October 24.
