The Windows 11 Start menu has received a major update for versions 24H2 and 25H2, featuring a single page, category-based All apps view and more.
This month's optional update (KB5067036) for Windows 11 introduces the new Start menu, which is being gradually rolled out under a Preview tag.
The original Start menu, first launched with Windows 95 in 1995, is now 30 years old, with its last major redesign occurring with Windows XP almost 25 years ago.
Microsoft had previously attempted to replace the Start menu with Windows 8 in 2012, but it has continued to evolve, with the latest changes expected to be included in the November 2025 Patch Tuesday.
