Notable additions to institutional collections worldwide include Chinese prints and a rare stringed wood carving by Barbara Hepworth.

A selection of Suzhou prints, assembled by specialist bookseller and collector Christer von der Burg, has been purchased by the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Cleveland Museum of Art.

Many Suzhou prints were lost during China's Cultural Revolution, but some were preserved in European and Japanese collections.

Woodblock printing with colour was pioneered in China and reached its zenith in 18th-century Suzhou.
