The Sixers appeared to finally run out of energy, but Adem Bona's presence changed the course of the game.
With the team trailing by nine and Joel Embiid done for the night, having reached his minutes restriction with seven minutes to go, the outlook seemed bleak. The Washington Wizards, led by Alex Sarr and Kyshawn George, were on a hot streak, nearing a 60% field goal percentage for much of the night.
Adem Bona refused to let the Sixers lose their first game of the season.
Joel Embiid had led the team with 25 points before being sidelined, leaving the rest of the team to find a way to turn the game around.
